Hunger Free Vermont invites you to attend the Spring 2017 3SquaresVT Conference in your region
–New this year is a special workshop track designed especially for childcare providers, school counselors, school social workers, school staff who process school meal applications, school meal program managers and directors, school nurses, and anyone else who works with kids and families!–Earn 6 hours of professional development credits!
–Learn the basics of what 3SquaresVT is, and how it is connected to alleviating child hunger, to school meal eligibility and applications, and to direct certification. We will also explore how best to communicate about the value of 3SquaresVT to families, and how to lessen the stigma of applying.
WHY: 3SquaresVT, the largest federal nutrition program, provides benefits to over 78,000 Vermonters. This conference will offer an opportunity to gain a deeper knowledge of 3SquaresVT eligibility, deductions, benefits and the application process, learn about recent and upcoming policy changes, enhance outreach skills, network with colleagues from your region, and participate in focused discussions with seasoned advocates.
WHAT: Receive trainings, skills, and outreach strategies for new and seasoned advocates alike. DCF staff will also provide policy and procedural updates and be available to answer questions. It is recommended that attendees have previously been to Hunger Free Vermont’s 3SquaresVT Basic Training. We will be hosting Basic Trainings throughout the state in April and early May. We will also have a recording available for folks to view before the conferences. Stay tuned for the full agenda coming soon.
Hunger Free Vermont will provide morning refreshments and a snack, but please bring a bagged lunch.
WHO: A broad range of organizations and people are invited to attend including those from community action agencies, agencies on aging, food shelves, community meal sites, schools, health clinics and hospitals, senior centers, shelters, veterans organizations, housing authorities, child care centers and more. Whether you do direct application assistance or just interact with low-income Vermonters, this conference is for you!
