Castleton Early Childhood Summer Institute: A collaborative partnership with Castleton University and the Higher Education Early Childhood Consortium
The Castleton Early Childhood Summer Institute is a professional development opportunity for Early Childhood Educators (birth through grade 3) working in public schools and private early childhood and after-school settings and the administrators who support them. The institute is framed by the Vermont Early Learning Standards (VELS) that inform the development and capabilities of young children and guide in the development and selection of program-wide curriculum and educational strategies for those children. There are 11 simultaneous strands/classes that will be taught by representatives from a variety of Vermont agencies and institutions of higher education with expertise in early childhood education. The courses are designed to promote Vermont’s core values for early education and to meet the professional development needs of Vermont’s early childhood providers. A compelling feature of the institute is the cooperative spirit of Vermont’s colleges and universities and early childhood agencies while developing courses offered at this institute.
Institute Only: $145*, includes all 4 days of the individual strand you choose, morning refreshments and luncheon daily.
Institute and Credit: $520*, includes Institute ($145) + 3 credit course ($375)
Courses will be offered at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Participants looking to add the credit option will attend all sessions of the strand they choose for the four days and complete additional assignments (applications, reflections, readings) after the institute. The strand chosen equals one 3-credit course.
Participants should expect an email at the beginning of July explaining how to register and pay for the credit option.
