To celebrate, we created costumes and showed them off as we paraded down Canal St and visited our friends at the Administrative Offices on Birge St. We also made pinatas and celebreated with a Mexican feast!

Spring 2013

As the weather changes, please make sure you are replacing your child's winter clothing in their cubby with appropriate changes of clothes. Also, if you wish for your child to have bug spray and/or sun screen, you must bring it in. We will continue to go outside every day, including some wet weather days, so please dress you child accordingly.

The center is continuing to participate in Scholastic Book Clubs. This year alone, we have received over $100 in books!!! The children get very excited when new books arrive. Thank you for your participation!

With Daylight Savings over, you mayfind it hard to keep your child following their sleeping routines. Here are some helpful tips on helping your child's napping routine:

  • Make sure you child is waking up at a reasonable hour in the morning so they are ready for a nap after lunch
  • Allow ample time for free play inside and outside every day in the morning before nap
  • Your child will fall asleep easier on a full belly (right after lunch)
  • Use music to help soothe during nap time
  • Make sure naptime is the same time every day. Follow the same routine and make it upbeat! Give your child a warning (nap will be in five minutes), read a book together, and then put your child down for a nap. Once your child becomes accustomed to the routine, the transition will become easier.
  • Make sure your child is sleeping 10-12 hours every day. Sleeping helps children develop and grow. It also helps them to come to school ready to play and learn!

Winter 2012 updates

Thank you to all the families that attended our first Family Feast. It was nice to be able to sit down and have a family style dinner with all of you. We are interested in knowing what times and days work best for further family events. Please keep your eyes open for a survey so we can know how to best plan these events. It is very important for us to provide opportunities for you to be involved in your child's learning here at Evening Care. Strong, trusting relationships will help your child develop and be successful at school. We look forward to our next event!Fall 013 (Copy)

We have decided to join Scholastic Books Clubs as a way to increase the number of quality books we have available for your child at Evening Care. Every purchase you make for your family will also help us in receiving free supplies here at school. Books help your child build important literacy skills needed for individual success.

Summer 2012 updates

Windham Evening Care has been selected to participate in the Green Mountain Healthy Kids Challenge. The Green Mountain Healthy Kids Challenge is an exciting opportunity designed to support child care centers in their efforts to improve food, nutrition, and physical activity. We are one of 30 centers throughout the state chosen to participate in this project. Staff will be participating in three all day training sessions. The goal of the challenge is to develop nutrition and wellness policies and then to put these policies into practice throughout the center. When the challenge is completed all participating centers will have their policies collected and compiled into a statewide guide.
