Windham Child Care Association envisions a day when the healthy development of all children is a top priority of our communities, our state, and our nation.
Because our early education system is vastly under-resourced at all levels, we must be active at more than the local level to effect the needed changes. Early educators struggle with unlivable wages and few benefits. Families struggle to pay for child care – which can cost more than tuition at a state college. Long-term studies document that $1 invested in quality early care can save up to $17 in later costs (e.g., for special education, criminal justice, welfare, social services, etc.)
Windham Child Care Association speaks out at every opportunity to educate the public and develop support for prioritizing early childhood. It collaborates with the Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce and is a founding member of the Building Bright Futures Regional Council of Southeast Vermont. Over 500 community members help support the agency’s work.
Windham Child Care Association is one of six lead agencies for the statewide Kids Are Priority One Coalition. For more information on Kids Are Priority One’s important statewide work visit kidsarepriorityone.org.
